Wellingtonians have a new grocery destination with the unveiling of a FreshChoice store on iconic Cuba Street. The store, under the ownership of local Johnny Wahid, officially opened its doors this week, bringing a fresh and innovative retail experience to the heart of Wellington.
Backed by a team of 15 Wellington locals, FreshChoice Cuba is focused on delivering an inventive shopping atmosphere that seamlessly integrates the best of “fresh” with “local”, integrating new food-to-go offerings for shoppers.
Tim Cartwright, CEO of FreshChoice Supermarkets, says the new store will give much needed choice for those deep into the hustle and bustle of the capital.
“We are thrilled to announce the opening of this store, bringing the FreshChoice experience to Wellington for the first time.
“The Cuba Street store is a great example of modern convenience. We’ve introduced some exciting food-to-go offerings that cater to the busy lifestyles of our customers. On top of this, we’re proud to unveil New Zealand’s first self-serve coffee offering from the Fair Press Co., enhancing the overall shopping experience.”
The store is the 47th FreshChoice store nationwide, and the 74th franchise store within the combined FreshChoice and SuperValue network.
FreshChoice Cuba Street owner Johnny Wahid says he is proud to be bringing the best of FreshChoice to inner Wellington.
“Cuba Street is a magical part of the world, filled with one-of-a-kind people and culture, and it’s an honour to participate in the history of this place. With a great range of products and a brand-new coffee offering, our team is on a mission to cater to bring the best fresh food and convenient food to go, served with a friendly smile. We can’t wait to welcome locals into the store, seven days a week!”
FreshChoice envisions a network of 200 stores by 2034, with each new store opening propelling them closer to this goal. You can find FreshChoice Cuba Street at 244 Cuba Street, Te Aro, open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm.
